Comprehensive Eye Exams in Winston-Salem, NC

Our mission is to help you navigate our hand-picked selection of independent glasses to find a few pairs that are authentically, unapologetically you. Before you can find your next pair of frames, though, your experience at Eyes on Trade starts with an eye exam, ensuring all your vision needs are met.

Eye exams are an important first step to adding a fresh pair of frames to your eyewear wardrobe — but they’re also much more than that. An annual eye exam can help you make sure that your glasses and contact lenses stay up-to-date with your eyes, which can change over time. They’re also your first line of defense against serious eye conditions.

Our Winston-Salem eye doctors provide screenings for various eye conditions and diseases. This way, we can make sure that the eyes behind your glasses are healthy before we give you an extremely precise vision prescription and send you on your way to meet with our optical team.

There’s one area where we refuse to compromise. To make sure that we can take our time with your care, we schedule a maximum of two eye exams per hour. This means you’ll never have to rush through your appointment — feel free to ask as many questions you need.

Why Are Eye Exams So Important?

We tell patients to have an eye exam once every 1-2 years if their vision is healthy, and annually if they wear glasses or contacts, or are at risk for an eye condition. If you’re coming in to buy glasses, though, scheduling an annual eye exam appointment is still important.
Changing Eye Prescriptions

Changing Prescriptions

Most people’s sight changes over time. While you were most likely already aware of that, you might not know is that your eyes will strain themselves to compensate for eyewear that isn’t a perfect match to your vision. The last thing we want is for you to find just the right stylish, standout frames, only to put them on and realize your eyesight isn’t quite clear, or, that they’re giving you a headache.

Eye Conditions

There are several eye conditions which cause permanent damage if they aren’t detected and treated early. Glaucoma, macular degeneration (AMD), and many retinal issues don’t have obvious symptoms at first, but by the time you notice them, their effects on your vision can be severe. Damage to the eye can happen without you noticing it — an eye exam with some simple diagnostic testing could preserve your vision, or at least offer some much-needed peace of mind.
